We are delighted to invite you to the official inauguration of the Xochi Sculpture Park, a bold new chapter in our mission to bring contemporary art into deep conversation with the natural world.
Surrounded by the serene beauty of the Serra da Estrela mountains, the Sculpture Park is an evolving outdoor gallery, where land, light, and form converge. Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of art, nature, and community, as we unveil a curated collection of site-specific works by four exceptional contemporary sculptors.
A Venezuelan sculptor known for his organic, abstract wood sculptures, Eduardo Rangel transforms natural materials through a process that is both experimental and deeply intuitive. His works are grounded in traditional techniques yet infused with contemporary sensibility, exploring the raw beauty of wood while engaging themes of nature, sustainability, architecture, and the human experience.
Working from a self-described “laboratory of ideas,” Rangel creates sculptures that bridge emotional depth with material sophistication—objects that invite touch, thought, and personal interpretation.
A multidisciplinary visual artist, Bel Mur addresses identity, gender, and systemic oppression through a poetic yet politically charged practice. Her work—ranging from sculpture and installation to mixed media—centers on female agency and collective emancipation. Drawing from her own lived experience, Bel Mur confronts the structures that marginalize and divide, offering instead powerful, symbolic narratives of resistance and liberation. Her projects are not only sustainable in form but transformative in intention, activating empathy and collective reflection.
Educator, painter, and sculptor Jaime Braz combines his background in biology and geology with a rich artistic vision. His sculptures are inspired by the microscopic life forms—rotifers, insects, and unseen organisms—that teem beneath our perception. A former student of sculptor José Moreira Neves, Braz brings a rare precision and poetic sensibility to his work, crafting pieces that feel both alien and deeply familiar. His work asks us to consider the intricate systems that underpin life itself—and our often invisible connections to them.
Francisco’s sculpture practice explores the tensions between creation and destruction, using industrial materials and processes to dissect the forces of consumption, extraction, and transformation. His installations and object-based works reflect a critical, almost archaeological gaze on contemporary society—where power, violence, and production are deeply entwined. His Power Tool and Attached series exemplify his commitment to interrogating modern systems through material and conceptual precision.
To mark the opening of the park, Xochi Art Gallery will also unveil a solo exhibition by renowned Belgian artist Roger Remaut. Known for his layered, abstract mixed-media paintings, Remaut's practice is deeply material, investigating urban decay, memory, and the tactile residue of time. This is his first exhibition in Portugal—a must-see for lovers of contemporary abstraction and texture-based art.
This event is free and open to all—a chance to gather, reflect, and connect in the spirit of art and renewal.
