Submissions
Artist Submissions
We review a limited number of artists each year whose work aligns with the curatorial direction of the gallery. We are not a general open-call gallery.
Curatorial Direction
We are interested in work that:
- Demonstrates conceptual depth and intellectual rigor.
- Engages with political, social, cultural, or environmental realities.
- Extends beyond surface aesthetics into critical inquiry.
- Develops a clearly articulated and sustained artistic position.
- Challenges assumptions about form, context, or meaning.
What We Are Not Looking For
To be transparent and respect your time, we are generally not the right context for:
- Work focused on aesthetic resolution without conceptual depth.
- Decorative or purely formal approaches to sculpture or painting.
- Generic forms without clear conceptual grounding.
- Practices without a distinct artistic language.
- Work that does not engage broader cultural or political contexts.
Originality of Practice
A core requirement is a clearly individual visual and conceptual language. We are not interested in variations of widely circulated formal approaches.
Before You Submit
Review our artists and exhibitions first. Submissions are significantly more likely to be considered when the artist has understood the gallery's curatorial position.
If You Are Still Developing Your Practice
If your work is still in development, our resources can help you with:
- Developing a coherent practice.
- Understanding contemporary art systems.
- Building a sustainable career path.
Submission Requirements
If your work aligns with the above, please submit:
- A link to your website or portfolio (no attachments).
- A concise artist statement (max 300 words).
- 3-5 works representing your current practice.
- A short note on alignment with our curatorial focus.
Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
Submit to info@xochi.art
Selection Process
Due to volume, we can only respond to artists we wish to pursue further. No response reflects curatorial fit, not the value of your work.
