In 1997, Remaut relocated to Billericay, England, entering a period of heightened international engagement. He became active in the London art scene while exhibiting across the UK and Europe, including Amsterdam and Quimper, and participated in interdisciplinary events such as the Norwich Film & Multimedia Festival.

In 2000, Roger returned to Belgium, settling in the Westhoek village of Pollinkhove. During this period of heightened global tensions, the Make Art Not War series was born, his work increasingly carrying political undercurrents.

In 2023, at 81, Roger Remaut relocated to Portugal. Over five decades, he has honed a mastery of abstract form, exploring the materiality of paint and the tension between control and spontaneity.
