FAQ

Questions we hear most

Straight answers on leasing, commissions, collections, artwork protection, and how a project typically runs.

Getting started

What does Xochi Corporate do?

Xochi Corporate helps organisations introduce exceptional contemporary art into professional environments through leasing, curated collections, and bespoke commissions. We manage the process from artist selection and visualisation through installation and artwork care.

What are the three ways to work with you?

Leasing — significant original artworks through a structured monthly programme. Commissions — bespoke work created for your brief. Collections — curated groups of works by a single artist, ready to install, lease, or adapt.

Who is this for?

Companies, professional practices, developers, hospitality groups, healthcare environments, and public or civic organisations that want original contemporary art in professional interiors.

How do we start?

Share your space, timeline, and whether you lean toward leasing, a commission, a collection, or a mix. We respond with a clear next step — often a shortlist, visualisation, or structured proposal.

Can we see how the work looks in our space first?

Yes. Use our visualisation tool: upload a photo, mark the wall corners, set dimensions, and place artwork — or ask us to prepare mockups for internal approval.

Is there a commitment when we enquire?

No. An enquiry starts a conversation. Structured proposals come after briefing; there is no obligation until you choose to proceed.

Leasing

Why lease art instead of buying?

Leasing allows your organisation to access significant original artwork through predictable monthly payments, without making a large upfront purchase. It provides flexibility to refresh your environment over time while preserving capital for other business priorities.

Who owns the artwork during the lease?

Ownership remains with the artist or current owner throughout the lease term. Your organisation receives the agreed rights to display the artwork at the specified location.

What happens at the end of the lease?

At the end of the term, you can return, renew, exchange, or discuss a separate purchase option. End-of-term choices are agreed when you are ready.

Can we purchase the artwork later?

If you decide you would like to own a leased artwork, purchase can be discussed separately. Leasing and purchase remain separate agreements, giving your organisation flexibility.

Can we lease multiple works under one agreement?

Yes. Organisations can lease multiple artworks across offices, buildings, or locations under a coordinated programme with consolidated billing.

What types of spaces are suitable for art leasing?

Art leasing can support a wide range of environments, including offices, boardrooms, reception areas, hotels, restaurants, healthcare spaces, and public-facing commercial interiors.

Commissions

What is a commission?

Bespoke artwork created specifically for your environment — from a single statement piece to a complete building programme. From brief to installation, Xochi manages the entire process.

Is commissioning only for large or luxury projects?

No. Commissioning is available for focused single spaces as well as building-wide programmes. We make the process accessible and professionally managed — not reserved for museums or private collectors.

How do we choose an artist?

We select artists whose practice aligns with your project. You review credentials and concepts before anything is commissioned. Where required, we source additional artists to match the brief.

How long does a commission take?

Most commissions need roughly 8–20 weeks once the brief is clear, depending on scale, production, and site access. The timeline is confirmed in your proposal.

Can you work with our architect or interior designer?

Yes. We routinely collaborate with design teams on concept, scale, materials, lighting, and sign-off documentation.

Collections

What is a curated collection?

An artist-led selection of complementary works designed for professional environments — ready to install, lease, or tailor to your project.

Can we adapt a collection to our space?

Yes. Scale, combination, and placement can be tailored — from a single focal work to a multi-space programme.

Can we lease a collection rather than buy?

Yes. Collections can be structured as leases with the same monthly rhythm, artwork protection, and install support as individual works.

Which artists have collections available?

Current collections include series by Sandra Jane Heard, Roger Remaut, and Karen Jordan. Browse the collections page for detail.

Artwork protection

Is the artwork insured during the lease?

Yes. Xochi coordinates professional artwork protection throughout the lease period, including specialist handling, transport, installation, condition reporting, and display. Full insurance details are provided as part of the lease agreement.

What does artwork protection include?

Specialist fine-art insurance during transport and installation, condition reporting before installation and after removal, and professional handling and documentation managed by Xochi.

What about insurance on purchased artwork?

For purchased artwork, we ensure professional delivery and installation. Ongoing insurance arrangements can be discussed according to your organisation’s requirements.

Do you provide condition reports?

Yes. Condition documentation is prepared before installation and after removal so facilities and risk teams have a clear record.

Finance & procurement

How is art leasing treated for finance and tax?

Many organisations lease equipment, vehicles, and technology to preserve capital and manage cash flow. Art leasing follows the same principle: structured monthly payments rather than a large upfront purchase. Under Portuguese accounting and tax rules, properly structured operating leases may allow lease payments to be treated as business expenses rather than a capital purchase. Exact treatment depends on your circumstances and agreement terms — confirm with your advisor.

Why lease rather than buy — for finance teams?

Buying is a larger upfront investment that typically ties capital into the artwork. Leasing offers predictable monthly costs, preserves capital for other priorities, and allows you to refresh artworks over time.

Do you provide documentation for finance and procurement?

Yes. We provide lease schedules, artwork valuations, and contractual details suitable for finance, procurement, and auditor review.

Is this tax or accounting advice?

No. Our finance notes are general information only. Confirm treatment with your finance team or professional advisor before entering a lease.

Delivery & installation

Who handles delivery and installation?

Xochi coordinates professional packing, transport, installation, site coordination, and handover documentation for your facilities team.

What happens if we relocate or refurbish?

Simply let us know in advance. We can coordinate the safe removal, storage, and reinstallation of artwork as your space changes.

Can you install across multiple floors or buildings?

Yes. Multi-space and multi-site programmes are common. We plan sequencing with facilities so disruption stays minimal.

Artists & provenance

What kind of artists do you work with?

A carefully selected group of artists with recognised exhibition histories, institutional collections, and practices that bring distinction to professional environments.

Can we review an artist’s background before committing?

Yes. Artist profiles, credentials, and relevant works are part of shortlisting — especially for commissions and flagship placements.

Is provenance documented?

Works come with appropriate documentation for corporate stakeholders. Where institutional credentials matter to your brief, we surface them clearly.

Still have a question?

Tell us about the space and we’ll point you to the right route — leasing, commission, or collection.
